Waiver Wire-Week 16

QB:

Gardner Minshew- With Jalen Hurts expected to miss time, owners may need a replacement if they don’t have one on roster already. Minshew may not have Jalen’s running ability, but he is still mobile in his own right, with the same selection of above average weapons to choose from. Baker Mayfield- I have never really been a Baker guy, but if you need a QB, you need a QB. He seems to be picking up the Rams offense faster then most people thought possible. He could do better getting points, but sometimes you may just need a guy who is actually going to play. He is capable of 1-2 touchdowns which is not bad. Sam Darnold- Out of all the quarterbacks the Panthers have deployed this year, Sam Darnold appears to be looking the best the past few weeks. He even appeared to get DJ Moore fantasy relevant again. Like the other guys listed, don’t start him over Patrick Mahomes or anything, but if you need a desperation QB for the playoffs, then Darnold could be your guy. He is a very sneaky play that most people may be sleeping on.

RB:

Zack Moss- Runningbacks are always of value especially if they are commanding the majority of the carries. Johnathan Taylor is set to miss the rest of the season. Zack carried the ball 24 times after Taylor went down. Royce Freeman- The Houston Texans encountered an injury with rookie Damien Pierce. Freeman appears to have garnered the majority of the carries in week 15. Opportunities are a thing of value especially this time of year.

WR:

Rashid Shaheed- Shaheed could use a few more targets, but he appears to make a big chunk play every time he gets his number called. He is the definition of game speed. His targets could skyrocket with Chris Olave dealing with a hamstring injury currently. He had 71% snap count which was way ahead of any receiver on the roster. If I am bidding big money on anyone on waivers this week, its Shaheed. K.J. Osborn- K.J. came into his own as Justin Jefferson left the week 15 matchup briefly. Even when Jefferson came back, K.J. contributed to the biggest comeback in the NFL record books. He could be a huge value play for the playoffs if he continues to contribute.
