It is that time of the year where the NFL trade deadline gets plenty of fans excited about possible team changes and the variables that may come along with them. In fantasy football, these trades can really make or break your team. However, they can also really help you if you can get ahead of curve and buy players while their stock is at a low point.
James Robinson
Coming off of injury, JRob’s stock was highly valued to start the season. That said, his opportunities dwindled down the last few weeks dropping a ZERO last week. This screamed trade in my opinion. He has now been shipped to the New York Jets after the Breece Hall injury. He may be in a running back committee to start out, but that doesn’t scare me. James is a runner with tremendous vision to find holes, and the Jets run a very similar offense to which Robinson thrived in his rookie season. His stock has popped back up post trade, but he could still be had for a decent price. He could really pay off if he can produce similar to Breece.
Kadarius Toney
Toney is very similar to Robinson as he has already been traded and value has risen now that he is teamed up with Patrick Mahomes. Toney has been injury riddled with the Giants since last year, but sometimes a change of scenery can magically help with hamstring issues. Sure hamstrings can linger, but I am a sucker for the risk because the reward is so high here. The Chiefs have numerous receivers that make plays, but none have shown consistency other that tight end Travis Kelce. Toney’s ceiling with this offense is mouth watering. I would 100% buy, but at the same time I would also sell if somebody wants to pay big.
Kyren Williams/Cam Akers
These Rams running backs are both question marks. Cam Akers is essentially awaiting a trade after having talks with coach Sean McVay. His stock has been low all year and still remains that way the longer it takes him to get traded. He is definitely a low offer guy to stash. That said, he probably has more value in dynasty type leagues. Kyren is another stash as the coaching staff has been hyping him up to have a role whenever he is activated to play. Darrell Henderson will be his primary competition, but Kyren makes a smart stash as Henderson does have injury issues from time to time.
Kareem Hunt
Hunt has starting running back value even though he is a second string back in Cleveland. He is one of a few backup backs that you can start weekly. He could seen an BIG uptick if he get a chance at his own backfield elsewhere. He may cost a decent return to get him now or later if a trade happens. If Hunt is traded then D’Earnest Johnson, and maybe Demetric Felton could be some names to watch or even try to sneak on your roster now.
KJ Hamler/Jerry Jeudy
Word on the street is both of these receivers have received interest from multiple teams. The Denver Broncos and their offense that hasn’t lived up to expectations this year, these guys could both be great low ball buys right now. Who knows, Russell could return to elite any week making them harder to get. I could see one or the other going, but not both (watch them both get traded). I am predicting the Ravens for KJ Hamler and the Giants for Jeudy. I think both spots could be ideal and drive up their asking prices. Therefore, I would try for them now and hope for the best.
