Jeremy Lin’s injury may keep him out longer than expected.

A week ago today, Jeremy Lin has a hamstring strain. The damage took place when the Brooklyn Nets were facing the Charlotte Hornets. Lin has suffered a long list of injuries for the point guard, as he has seen only 12 games this season, logging in 301 total minutes (25 minutes per game).

Two days later, Lin did not play against the Chicago Bulls.

Later on that day, it was found that Lin would not only miss the Bulls game but would also be out for the Nets game against Washington as well. Losing both games on the two-game road trip. At this point, there was no update on his hamstring, but apparently, it was not looking good.

Speculation then began that if the Brooklyn Nets have the NBA’s worst record (8-25), why try to rush your starting point guard back into the fold? The General Manager Sean Marks announced that Lin’s injury is not as bad as the last one he had.

His previous hamstring injury forced him to miss 17 games. However, even though his injury is not as severe, the Nets are not going to take a chance of him reinjuring himself. Therefore, he may miss more than the 17 games he previously lost. Marks also stated that Jeremy Lin was in good spirits.

On Monday, Jeremy Lin was once again announced to be out against the Utah Jazz. Making it his third game missed. Lin has begun shooting, and his progression seems to be quicker this time, but he has indicated that he will be out another week. The good news is that his hamstring is in a different place than the one when he missed 17 games. The mystery remains on how long he will truly be out of commission.

Isaiah Whitehead, Sean Kilpatrick, Caris LeVert, and Bojan Bogdanovic will all benefit in his absence. In the last four games, Whitehead has seen his minutes increase from 16 to 31. He has scored 31 points and eight assists and 11 rebounds in that time. Kilpatrick has struggled in the last two games. Shooting just 4-of-13 from the field. He should turn his game around. His previous two, he shot 15-for-29 and 8 of 16 from beyond the arc.

Levert is a rookie, who has been more of a minutes eater than a points maker. He did shoot well against Washington, shooting 4-of-5 from the floor and 2-for-3 from the three point area. Bogdanovic will probably move into the starting lineup as long as Lin is out. He’s not much more than a deep league 3-point specialist, though.
