Thanksgiving came and went, and so did a lot of football. What didn’t come and go, however, is the usual rash of injuries that join each week of NFL play. It was a remarkably healthy week for fantasy-relevant players on the field, but here are a few notable injuries:
Derek Carr, Oakland Raiders
Raiders quarterback Derek Carr dislocated his finger in two different places, but was able to return to the game wearing a glove after just one series. He did take all of his post-glove snaps from the shotgun position, but post-game tests revealed no breaks, just the two dislocations in one finger. He will be evaluated throughout the week and may miss some practice time, but he should be good to go for Week 13.
John Brown, Arizona Cardinals
Cardinals wide receiver John Brown has been dealing with a hamstring issue made worse by his sickle-cell trait. He was able to start in Week 12, but was forced to exit the game and could not return. He will be evaluated further, with perhaps an MRI or other imaging tests, early this week. He should be looked at as no better than 50-50 for Week 13.
T.Y. Hilton, Indianapolis Colts
Colts wide receiver T.Y. Hilton suffered a back injury in Week 12 and was unable to return to the game. He did not practice on Monday, but his status for Week 13 is still unclear. He spent most of Week 12 on the sidelines with an ice pack strapped to his back.
Allen Hurns, Jacksonville Jaguars
Jags wide receiver Allen Hurns hurt his hamstring and was forced to leave Week 12’s game. He did not return and he will be evaluated early in the week to determine the severity of the injury. Marqise Lee has already seemingly jumped Hurns on the depth chart, and would get a chance to make even more of his opportunity if Hurns misses time.
Rob Gronkowsi, New England Patriots
Here’s the big fantasy injury of the week, as Pats tight end Rob Gronkowski exited the game in the first quarter with a back injury and was unable to return. He will be evaluated early in the week to determine the severity of the injury, but it seems likely that he will miss some time.
Jordan Reed, Washington Redskins
Washington tight end Jordan Reed also suffered an injury in Week 12, but he was able to make it through the game. Reed suffered a Grade 3 AC joint sprain in his shoulder and said himself that he had “no idea” if he’d be able to play in Week 13.
