Rodney Hood is hurt again
It has not been the easiest of seasons for Rodney Hood. In January, he suffered a right bone bruise which forced him out for five games. He returned back in action against the Lakers on the 26th but would struggle shooting the ball. He was active for 22 minutes but could only post five points. The following game, he returned to form. Against the Memphis Grizzlies, he would score 20 points in in 31 minutes shooting .583 from the field and .667 from beyond the arc.
Hood would take another blow against the Milwaukee Bucks. It only took eight minutes of playing time, but when attempting a drive down the middle to the basket, he hyperextended the same knee and was taken from the game. Following the contest, Hood would report that he was healthy. He underwent an MRI on Thursday, and the news is not good. It appears he has a Grade 1 lateral collateral ligament (LCL) sprain.
The Jazz say guard Rodney Hood has a bone contusion on his right knee as well as a Grade 1 lateral collateral ligament (LCL) sprain.

Dr. Parekh explains that Hood could miss anywhere between two and four weeks before he can return to practice. He also mentions that depending on the location of the ligament and the size of the bone contusion, it can override the issue in the ligament.
Unfortunately, this looks like Hood could be developing an injury prone status. In his rookie season, he was only could rack up 50 games due to foot injuries. He managed to stay healthy last season, missing only three games, but now is dealing with knee issues.

Utah is fifth in the Western Conference but leading the Northwest Division by three games over Oklahoma Thunder. Depending on how well they play, will probably determine the rush status on Rodney Hood. He is not the focal point of the offense, but he is a key contributor. On the season, Hood is averaging 13.7 points, 1.9 assists, and 3.6 rebounds per game.
Look for the Jazz to use Joe Ingles in the place of Hood until his return. Ingles averages 6.8 points, 2.8 boards, 3.6 assists, 2.4 steals and 1.2 three pointers in 29.2 minutes. He would only be a speculative add. Hood is not seriously hurt and he doesn’t excel well enough in one category to be enough help.
