Escobar suffered a grade one hamstring strain during Saturday’s game and is expected to miss 2-4 weeks. These injuries have a tendency to linger, especially on guys who rely on their speed, if not allowed to properly heal. Escobar was really starting to turn it on this week, hitting 3 of his 5 HRs over that time period. For the season he’s hitting .272 with .411 slugging, .735 OPS over 38 games.
Likely Luis Valbuena will fill in for him at third and recently activated C.J. Cron will take over at first, with Pujols DHing. If either Valbuena or Cron are available in your league, they are worth taking a look at.
