Kansas City Royals starting pitcher Nathan Karns may land on the disabled list after leaving the Royals’ 4-3 loss against the Minnesota Twins and was later diagnosed with right elbow tightness and fluid in the joint Friday. Karns exited after throwing 5 innings allowing just one run, but tossed only 72 pitches.
Karns’ fluid in his elbow joint can usually be removed with a needle. Baring any setbacks, Karns should be ready to return in seven to ten days.
Karns has a 2-2 record with a 4.17 ERA in 45.1 innings pitched this season and is currently listed as day-to-day as the Royals ponder a stint on the disabled list.
