San Diego Padres starting pitcher Jered Weaver was placed on the 10-day disabled list with inflammation in his left hip after lasting just 2/3 of an inning and surrendering seven runs—all earned—in Saturday’s 10-1 loss against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Generally, the injury should subside with inflammation anti-inflammatory therapy. However, if the injury does not improve, Weaver may need a hip injection. Regardless, Weaver should be back in 2-4 weeks for the Padres.
The 34-year old is on pace for his worst career season, as Weaver is sporting a 0-5 record with a 7.44 ERA and has allowed 16 homeruns in only 42.1 innings pitched.
