San Francisco Giants relief pitcher Mark Melancon was placed on the 10-day disabled list with right elbow tendinitis for the second time this season. The closer is expected to return after the All-Star Break in July for the Giants.
Melancon received a PRP injection in his right elbow Wednesday.
The 32-year old has a 4.35 earned run average and 11 saves in 20.2 innings this season, far worse than what San Francisco was expecting heading into the season. Midseason pickup Sam Dyson will take over the closer duties in the meantime.
