Washington Redskins tight end Jordan Reed suffered a Grade 3 separation of the AC joint in his shoulder on Thanksgiving against the Dallas Cowboys. He missed a few plays after the injury, but was able to return to the field, causing a collective sigh of relief throughout the world of fantasy football. He even scored two touchdowns in that game, and the immediate thought was that he had dodged a severe injury. Later testing confirmed the separation, however, and Reed has been unable to practice so far this week. He is unlikely to play this week against the Arizona Cardinals, making Vernon Davis the starting tight end for the Redskins and a middling fantasy option. Reed’s owners need to look elsewhere for a starter this week, and Davis, if still available, is not a bad option. While Reed has top-three upside every week, Davis is more of a low-end TE1 in a tough matchup.
