Chicago White Sox relief pitcher Jake Petricka was moved to the 10-day disabled list with a right elbow strain following a rough inning in Wednesday’s 12-3 loss against the New York Yankees. Petricka allowed five runs, throwing 33 pitches, and was ejected after the outing.
The right-hander will need two to four weeks of rest in order to get back on the mound, resting, rehabbing and using anti-inflammatories in the meantime. If the strain does not improve in the next week or two, Petricka may get an MRI to evaluate the structural integrity of the joint.
On the season, Petricka is 1-0 with a 9.28 earned run average in 10.2 innings. He has already missed time with a right lat strain, and the White Sox called up Juan Minaya in Petricka’s absence.
