Carlos Carrasco leaves with pectoral tightness-Dr. Parekh

Frank Jansky/Icon Sportswire

Cleveland Indians starting pitcher Carlos Carrasco departed Monday’s start against the Tampa Bay Rays after only 3 2/3 innings with pectoral tightness. Prior to his exit, Carrasco saw his fastball velocity dip from 95 miles per hour to only 92.3 by the fourth inning as he surrendered five earned runs on six hits and three walks.

Expect a day-to-day evaluation for Carrasco but about a seven to ten day layoff between starts. If the right-hander can return after missing only one start, that would be a disaster avoided, as Carrasco boasts a 4-2 record with a 1.86 ERA on the season.
