Houston Astros catcher Brian McCann was placed on the 7-day concussion disabled list retroactive to May 20 after notifying the team he was experiencing headaches and then underwent subsequent testing to determine his diagnosis.
Concussions are hard to predict and will be continually evaluated as per the MLB protocol. This makes it very hard to hypothesize when McCann should return to play, so fantasy owners should be cautious about McCann’s future availability.
This season, McCann has been on track to post his highest batting average since his All-Star 2011 season. McCann is batting .269 with six homeruns and 25 RBIs for the MLB-leading Astros in 2017, and Houston called up Juan Centeno to backup Evan Gattis behind the plate with McCann on the sidelines.
